BA Internet · Limits and protection
SEDD is not a gate closed only when danger appears. It is the responsibility to protect people and amanah throughout digital life.SEDD protects people and amanah throughout digital life.
Different limits matter when choosing a tool, opening an account, entering data, giving a machine authority, publishing content and ending a service. BA Internet SEDD does not close technology down. It makes clear whom we are protecting, what is permitted, where human judgement remains and how we stop and correct a mistake.

From RUYAH into digital life
ADAB names the limit; BA Internet SEDD protects it across accounts, data, models, interfaces, publishing and ongoing care.
The root SEDD concept in RUYAH is not arbitrary human control; it is the responsibility to protect the right place and amanah described by ADAB. This page does not redefine that foundation. It shows which practical questions to ask in digital life—from a child’s learning tool and a professional assistant to multilingual media and a machine allowed to take action.
SEDD does not exist to narrow human life; it protects people, knowledge and representation from being pushed out of place.
Broader than technical security
Technical security protects a system from unauthorised access. SEDD also protects the proper place of people and life.
A narrow security view
Protects the system
- Focuses on passwords, access and attack
- Often leaves control entirely to a technical team
- Recognises the problem only after an incident
- May treat a functioning system as a safe system
BA Internet SEDD
Protects people, amanah and consequences
- Considers purpose, rights, privacy and attention
- Protects children, households and qualified human judgement
- Works from selection through exit and closure
- Limits or stops harm even when the system functions as designed
Whom and what do we protect first?
SEDD does not place the tool at the centre. It makes the people, relationships and amanah touched by the tool visible.
People and their space for decision
A person’s intention, choice, objection, right to an explanation and final responsibility are not transferred to automation.
Children and households
Age, development, attention, privacy, household information and safe adult guidance are protected together.
Data, sources and rights
Personal data, professional confidentiality, copyright, permission, context, attribution and people missing from the data do not disappear.
Language, attention and reputation
Manipulative interfaces, pressure toward dependency, synthetic media, mistranslation, slander and representations that damage human dignity are limited.
Professional and field judgement
Model output does not take the place of the judgement and responsibility carried by a doctor, teacher, lawyer, usta or field practitioner.
Community, the natural world and shared resources
A community’s safety, culture, water, soil, work and future are not reduced to measurable data or short-term efficiency.
When does SEDD work?
Protection is not a final check before release. It works at six moments, from choosing a tool to leaving it behind.
01 1 · Before choosing
Examine the real need, age group, people concerned, provider, business model, data policy, open or local alternatives and the ability to walk away.
02 2 · Accounts and access
Define identity, age, household or institutional permission, separation of duties, least privilege, private communication and retention limits.
03 3 · Data and source input
Decide what will never be collected, which data must remain limited and how sources and permission will be shown.
04 4 · Models and authority to act
State whether the machine may draft, recommend or take a limited action—and which decisions always remain human.
05 5 · Interfaces and release
Protect what people see, how they are guided, how synthetic material is identified, who becomes visible and where access ends.
06 6 · Care and exit
Do not leave errors, updates, rollback, account closure, data deletion or transfer, service shutdown and archiving without a responsible person.

How can a closed system be recognised?
When sources, alternatives and the way out are hidden, people may be contained inside a system rather than protected by it.
An epistemic and technological cage can emerge when a platform chooses the question for us, shows only its own answers, hides how decisions are made and will not let us leave with our data or work. SEDD does more than filter harmful content: it keeps sources, alternatives, objection, human decision and exit visible.
Protection is not a closed wall that makes people passive; it is a limit that lets them see, choose, object and leave when necessary.
The answer is not always simply yes or no
SEDD does more than open or close a tool. It makes different choices for different uses and settings.
Do not use it
Do not use a tool or dataset when the purpose is unnecessary, rights or privacy would be violated, or child and human safety cannot be protected.
Limit it
Turn off particular features, data, age groups, durations, users, languages, locations or actions and keep the work within a narrow boundary.
Use it with human guidance
Require qualified human review and explicit approval in learning, professional, child, health, legal, financial or consequential action settings.
Open it for appropriate reuse
Consider public or WAQF access only when sources, rights, permission, representation, possible harm, quality and maintenance allow.
SEDD in everyday life
The same limit takes a different form in each setting.
A learning assistant for a child
It needs age-aware content, adult guidance, minimum personal data, no unsupervised private messaging, no advertising or dependency loops, and a way to report a wrong answer to a teacher.
A media tool for a household
Family photos, voices and conversations remain private by default; synthetic changes are clearly marked and each person gives separate permission before sharing.
Decision support for a profession
Sources, date, uncertainty and situations outside scope remain visible. The model recommends; a qualified person evaluates and carries responsibility for the decision.
Shared content across languages
Machine translation may provide a draft; native-language contributors review meaning, context and reputation. A harmful language version can be withdrawn.
A farming or water tool in the field
Local practitioners’ knowledge, the nature of the land, data rights and differences between settings are protected. A remote model does not replace local judgement.
An agent or automation
Reading, drafting and recommending are not the same authority as sending a message, making a purchase, deleting a record or changing an account. Consequential action requires explicit human approval.
When an error or harm occurs
SEDD is more than prevention. It offers a path that protects people, explains what happened and makes correction possible.
An error is neither hidden nor reduced to a technical ticket. The safety and rights of the affected person—and an explanation they can understand—come first.
SEDD for children and households
Protecting a child means more than filtering harmful content. It also protects attention, privacy, development and relationships with adults.
Tools used by children require age-aware language, clear household permission, private-by-default spaces, minimum data, no unsupervised private contact with adults, separate permission for images and voices, protection from synthetic impersonation, human guidance and a right to leave. A machine is not presented to a child as a friend, religious authority, psychological counsellor or final guide. Usta and mentoring relationships also require pedagogical competence, transparency and child safeguarding.
One of the first responsibilities of becoming a MİLLET is to treat one another’s children as amanah.
Protecting together as a MİLLET
If SEDD is left only to a platform administrator or technical specialist, shared human responsibility becomes weaker.
People carry their own limits and right to object; households carry responsibility for children and privacy; professionals carry competence and consequences; Builders carry choices about sources, data, interfaces and maintenance; language Circles carry the accuracy of translation and representation; institutions carry authority, records and accountability. These responsibilities do not replace one another, but they can see and correct one another. Technology can then develop in its own field without becoming the centre that defines people, households, professions or life.
SEDD is shared protection: no one rules everything; each person carries responsibility according to their amanah and competence.
Preparation and contribution
Is there a limit that should be protected—or a harm you have met—in digital life?
Shared SEDD records, guides and incident-reporting paths for BA Internet are still being prepared. For now, you can email a need concerning children, households, data, models, interfaces, professions, translation, publishing or ongoing care. This is not an active security service, emergency line, legal advice or completed review system.
